October 2025 Orthodontic Guidance Programme – Post- Activity Report
Building Bridges in Orthodontic Education and Clinical Innovation
The Orthodontic Guidance Programme 2025, jointly organized by the World Stomatological Organization (WSO), Global Dental Alliance, SEGi University Faculty of Dentistry, and the Imperial Dental Specialist Centre (IDSC), was successfully held on 23 September 2025 in Malaysia.
This initiative aimed to strengthen academic and clinical collaboration between Malaysia and China through lectures, guided visits, and professional dialogue. Supported by Angel Aligner, the event provided a high-impact platform for dental professionals to explore emerging trends in orthodontics, aligner biomechanics, and digital dentistry technologies.
Morning Session – SEGi University Faculty of Dentistry
The programme commenced at 9:00 a.m. with a guided tour of the SEGi University Faculty of Dentistry, where participants were introduced to the university’s advanced facilities, including pre-clinical simulation laboratories, clinical training centers, and research units. The visit offered valuable insights into Malaysia’s dental education framework, curriculum structure, and clinical training methodologies, setting the stage for deeper academic engagement.


Speech by Vice Chancellor, SEGi University
At 9:30 a.m., Dr. Karnati Praveen Kumar delivered an engaging lecture entitled “Principles of Aligner Biomechanics.”The session explored the core biomechanical principles that underpin aligner therapy, focusing on the science of tooth movement, design parameters of aligner systems, and key clinical considerations for achieving predictable treatment outcomes. Participants gained a deeper appreciation of how biomechanics drive efficiency, precision, and patient-centered care in modern orthodontic practice.

Following a short networking break at 11:00 a.m., delegates reconvened for the Malaysia–China Dental Exchange Session (11:15–11:30 a.m.), which centered on the following key discussion areas:
1. Overview of the development and current status of dentistry in Malaysia
2. The evolution and advancement of orthodontics in Malaysia
3. Training pathways and educational background of orthodontists
4. Current focus areas and research interests among Malaysian orthodontists
5. The latest orthodontic scientific research and innovative clinical concepts
6. The orthodontic market and emerging technologies for children and adolescents
7. The development and technological direction of dentistry in China
This exchange session fostered bilateral dialogue and academic exchange, encouraging experts from both nations to share experiences, challenges, and visions for the future of orthodontic education and innovation.
The morning programme concluded at 12:00 p.m. with a certificate presentation and group photo session, symbolizing the success of the day’s collaboration and mutual learning.

Afternoon Session – Imperial Dental Specialist Centre (IDSC)
The afternoon session commenced at 2:30 p.m. at the Imperial Dental Specialist Centre (IDSC). Participants were given an exclusive tour of the centre’s advanced digital facilities, including diagnostic imaging suites, clinical treatment rooms, and digital workflow systems, offering firsthand exposure to the integration of modern technology in clinical dentistry.
At 2:45 p.m., Adj. Prof. Dato’ Dr. How Kim Chuan, Chief Consultant of IDSC, led a comprehensive session featuring a series of Angel Aligner case presentations. Clinicians shared real-world experiences in digital treatment planning, patient communication, and case management strategies, highlighting the advantages of aligner therapy in achieving efficient and aesthetic orthodontic outcomes.

A Q&A session at 4:00 p.m. encouraged open clinical discussion and knowledge sharing, while the Malaysia–China Dentistry Opinion Exchange Session (4:15–4:45 p.m.) provided a meaningful platform for exploring future collaborative opportunities in education, research, and clinical practice. The discussion reinforced professional connections and strengthened the foundation for continued partnership between the two nations.The day concluded with a certificate presentation and group photo ceremony at 4:45 p.m., officially closing the event at 5:00 p.m.
