September 2025 Orthodontic Guidance Programme – Post- Activity Report

Advancing International Collaboration in Orthodontics

The Orthodontic Guidance Programme 2025 marked a significant milestone in international academic collaboration between Malaysia and China. Jointly organized by the World Stomatological Organization (WSO), Global Dental Alliance, SEGi University Faculty of Dentistry, and the Imperial Dental Specialist Centre (IDSC), the programme brought together thirty distinguished dental practitioners from China for a day of intensive knowledge exchange and clinical engagement.

Supported by Angel Aligner, the event aimed to foster academic dialogue, case-based learning, and clinical discussion in the fields of orthodontics and digital dentistry. Combining lectures, guided visits, and live demonstrations, the programme served as a dynamic platform to strengthen professional ties, elevate clinical competencies, and promote the development of a global cooperative network in oral health.

This was followed by an engaging presentation by Adj. Prof. Dato’ Dr. How Kim Chuan, Chief Consultant of IDSC, titled “Management of Complex Malocclusion Using Clear Aligner Technology”. Dr. How shared his extensive clinical experience in managing complex orthodontic cases using a fully digital workflow, emphasizing precision, predictability, and patient-centered care.

The academic momentum continued with the Malaysia–China Dental Exchange Forum, where experts from both countries discussed a wide range of topics, including:

1. The current development and trends in Malaysia’s dental industry;

2. The evolution and advancement of orthodontics in Malaysia;

3. Training and specialization pathways for orthodontists;

4. Research priorities and clinical focuses among Malaysian orthodontists;

5. Recent scientific innovations and orthodontic concepts;

6. The orthodontic market and technologies for children and adolescents; and

7. The current state and future directions of dental technology in China.

This highly interactive session deepened mutual understanding between the two nations and laid a foundation for future research collaboration and educational exchange. The morning concluded with a certificate presentation and group photo to commemorate the shared achievements.
