World Stomatological Organization (WSO) Explores Strategic Ultrasonic Medical Device Collaboration with Roaman Technology, TAR UMT and Imperial Dental Specialist Centre

Advancing International Academic–Industry Collaboration in Oral Healthcare Innovation

The World Stomatological Organization (WSO), led by its President Adjunct Professor Dato’Dr How Kim Chuan (侯锦泉教授), recently conducted an official visit to the headquarters of Roaman Technology (罗曼科技) in Dongguan, China, where strategic discussions were held with Roaman Managing Director Mr Yan Youchun (严佑春总经理) regarding collaborative research and development of next-generation ultrasonic medical and oral healthcare devices.

Accompanying Prof Dato’ Dr How during the visit was Dr Lim Yi Theng (林毓菁医生), who participated in discussions relating to clinical applications, translational dentistry, and future research collaboration pathways.

The meeting represented an important step toward building an international academic–clinical–industry ecosystem focused on innovation in oral healthcare technologies.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Malaysia –Academic and research leadership

Roaman Technology, China – Engineering, manufacturing, electronics, software integration,and product development expertise

The initiative reflects WSO’s ongoing efforts to foster stronger China–Malaysia collaboration in oral healthcare innovation and translational medical technology research.

Focus on Ultrasonic Medical Device Research

During the discussions, both parties explored the development of advanced ultrasonic-based healthcare systems aimed at improving oral hygiene, gum health, preventive care, and noninvasive therapeutic applications.

Research directions under discussion include:

Ultrasonic cavitation and microstreaming technologies

Oral biofilm disruption and plaque control

Gingival stimulation and enhancement of local blood circulation

Smart preventive oral healthcare systems

Consumer-grade and professional-grade ultrasonic applications

Integration of clinical dentistry with engineering innovation

Electronic control systems and intelligent software integration for future medical device platforms

The discussions also involved Roaman’s technical and engineering personnel, including:

Mr Luo Xuping (罗绪平) — responsible for electronics and software systems development

Mr Li Gang (李刚) — involved in engineering and R&D coordination discussions relating to future product development pathways

The collaboration aims to combine scientific research, clinical validation, engineering innovation, and manufacturing capabilities into a comprehensive translational platform.
